Show HN: Cowbull – Wordle-like game where you only get match counts https://ift.tt/rQZJg6n

Show HN: Cowbull – Wordle-like game where you only get match counts CowBull is a word game where you have to find the hidden four-letter word. You make guesses and get back the count of exact letter matches (bulls) and partial matches (cows). It’s a bit like Wordle, but you are not told the exact letters which match, only the count of matching letters. Scoring is based on the number of guesses and time used. There is a single player mode and a multi-player mode (no account required). The game source code is at https://ift.tt/t6RbglE . When I was younger, we used to play this game on paper at the back of the classroom during school and college in India. During Covid, I made this online version of the game to play with my kids. https://cowbull.co/ September 6, 2026 at 01:37AM

Show HN: I made Blocknado, an orbital stacker. Think Tetris with square rings I've loved stacker type games for as long as I can remember. But I've always wanted a version with a bit more strategy and puzzle dynamics. Blocknado is a game I've always wanted to play, maybe others will too. https://ift.tt/JG4NWUt September 6, 2026 at 01:16AM

Show HN: TimerVana a Local-first scheduler for real world routines https://ift.tt/NigKzeU

Show HN: TimerVana a Local-first scheduler for real world routines Hi HN, I’m the creator of TimerVana. It's not just "another timer app". The engineering analogy is a lightweight task scheduler for things people do in the real world. A normal timer models one countdown. TimerVana models a small dependency graph in JSON: some steps run sequentially, others run in parallel, and everything can converge on a target finish time. You can also combine multiple timers (e.g., combine a timer with all the steps to cook a steak + a timer for roasting vegetables). I originally built it because I often set multiple timers and alarms when cooking and got tired of repeatedly juggling separate alarms to get a main dish and several sides ready together. The same model also works for workouts, study sessions, morning routines, and other repeatable processes. The iPhone app is local-first by design [0]. You can create, save, and run timers entirely on your phone without an account or clou...

Show HN: Interactive map of the Japanese address system https://ift.tt/PKDGwdR

Show HN: Interactive map of the Japanese address system I had a hard time understanding the Japanese address system. Parts of addresses have suffixes like fu, shi, ku, chōme, ban and gō. Which suffixes are used varies between regions in a way that seemed random to me. I couldn't find a map of the system with a modern visualization, so I made one. It also shows whether an area has a governor or a mayor. For example Tokyo's wards have mayors and Osaka's don't. You can click around or drop the pin to explore, or write an address in the search bar. https://japanmap.fyi September 4, 2026 at 07:42AM
